The Sandy Historical Society's new building is a repository for the artifacts and history of Oregon and particularly of the 'Sandy Area'. An area encompassing the City of Sandy and surrounding areas of Boring, Estacada and the Greater Mount Hood area. In total a corridor that is approximately 35 miles in length.

We are able to say that we have construct an 8,500 square foot debt free building. Thanks to many generous donators.  Now we need your help in constructing the exhibits.

Exterior siding and interior sheet rocking have been completed, and an elevator installed. Electrical and communication wiring (state of the art-quality), plumbing, and a sprinkler system were installed prior to sheet rocking. In a glassed-in area by the entrance, will be our 100+-year-old covered wagon, which will be highly visible to eastbound traffic on U.S. Highway 26. Our covered wagon is a "Birdsell" made in South Bend, Indiana in the late 1890's. It is a 'Prairie Schooner' type wagon, lighter and more maneuverable than the heavy 'Conestoga' wagon.

Pioneer Boulevard will be overlooked by this mode of transportation and inside the museum you will find our preview displays, as well as a well stocked Chamber of Commerce counter with many brochures to serve you.  Certain Sandy Historical Society files; photo albums and scrapbooks will be available for viewing in this area.
